NEW: LUXURY AYUVEDIC MASSAGE
Liz has teamed up with Jane Rose of Elemi complementary health clinic (www.somesetcomplementarytherapy.co.uk)to offerthe Ayurvedic therapies of Pindasweda Massage and Ayurvedic Body Massage as they are traditionally performed in India, with two therapists working on one client. These are both specialised and luxurious body treatments. Ayuveda is an ancient system of health-care that ofers a complete, holistic way of life. Each individual is born with a certain combination of pitta, kapha and vatta which is just the correct balance for them. Imbalance leads to disease. Each clients' uniqueness is recognised and they are treated according to their uniqueness, not just according to their symptoms. Before an ayuvedic massage a consultation will take place and the client will be asked to fill in a questionnaire to determine their dosha (vata, pitta and kapha) so that the correct oils can be used to suit them. A special offer runs throughout May and June with both treatments offered at £60 instead of £75. If you have never experienced two therapists working your body at the same time then do come and give it a try, it is an experience not to be missed, the ultimate in luxury health care.
Coming Soon: Thermal muscle rehabilitation therapy
Liz is presently training in this new type of remedial massage with Heather Reed-Cox and will soon be bringing these new techniques to enhance her practice. For more information please visit www.bystillwaters.org
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils in combination with massage to encourage relaxation and balance within the body. Essential oils are pure, undiluted essences found in herbs, trees and flowers. When essential oils are applied to the skin or inhaled they interact with the body's chemistry. Each oil has a range of therapeutic effects which are used holistically to promote change in physical and emotional conditions and diseases.
Aromatherapy massage induces a state of deep relaxation and is beneficial to most people. After a full consultation the therapist will pick a combination of oils to suit your particular needs. A full body massage usually takes an hour and a half, while a half body massage takes forty-five minutes and can include the back, neck, shoulders and scalp or the legs and feet. The Aromatherapy facial uses natural aromatherapy based products and includes cleanse, tone, exfoliate, mask, hand and scalp massage and a facial massage using oils tailored for your skin type.

Deep Tissue/ Remedial Massage
Deep Tissue Massage can relieve severe tension in the muscles and connective tissue. It works by physically breaking down adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue which block circulaion and cause pain, limited movement and inflammation) in the muscle. To do this the massage uses focused pressure on points of particular tension, or friction across the grain of the muscle. Elbows and forearms are often used to apply pressure and manipulate the tissue. Techniques such as massaging the origin and insertion of the muscle to relax it and trigger point massage which involves applying pressure to an area of congestion in the muscle in order to release the lactic and uric acid build up are also used. This type of massage can be tailored to your needs.

Reflexology
Reflexology is a complementary therapy in which the therapist works on the feet in order to help heal and balance the whole body. It works on the principle that each part of the body is connected to a specific reflex point on the foot and that by manipulating that reflex the rest of the organs in that zone will feel a positive benefit. The aim is to stimulate the body's own healing processes in order to keep it in balance. Reflexology encourages both relaxation, by helping the body rebuild its energy resources, and stimulation. A reflexology session takes approximately one hour.

Natural Face Lift Massage
Natural facelift massage is a unique massage therapy that relaxes your facial and neck muscles, helping your skin to regain elasticity while encouraging wrinkles and eyebags to diminish. The therapist works systematically on sections of the face, releasing deep seated tensions and freeing layers of connective tissue so that facial muscles can relax. The movements encourage lymphatic drainage which in turn helps to remove toxins. The result is that the skin can become softer, the eyes appear brighter, puffiness around the eyes and jawline can be reduced and flexibility and mobility return to the face. Clients often report feeling more relaxed and positive, sleeping better and gaining relief from sinus problems, headaches and stress-related symptoms. The treatment is wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable to receive. Although a difference can usually be seen after one session the effects are cumulative and work best over a course of treatment. Specific exercises for the face are also taught. The massage uses no oils or other products so is great for those with sensitivities to skin care products. The massage will last for an hour. Indian Head Massage
Indian head massage is a therapy which has evolved from traditional techniques used in India to promote well-being for thousands of years. Indian head massage is a wonderful way to help you unwind and relax, reducing stress and tension. It can also improve circulation to the scalp, soothes muscular tension in the neck and shoulders, relieve tired eyes and can help to relieve tension headaches to name just a few of the benefits. The client remains clothed and is seated in a chair for the treatment which includes massage to the shoulders, neck, arms, head and face. Oil is applied to the scalp and through the hair which is a lovely way to improve hair condition and dry scalps although the massage can be performed without oil if preferred. The massage lasts for around thirty minutes.

Hopi Ear Candling
Quite different from conventional wax candles, a Hopi ear candle is actually a cotton tube, impregnated with beeswax, honey and therapeutic oils, that is painlessly inserted into the ear. The candles are made from natural ingredients that include sage, St John’s wort, camomile and beta-carotene. Otherwise known as thermo-auricular therapy, the original source of the technique seems to be from medical ceremonies performed by a native American Indian tribe called the Hopis (meaning ‘peaceful people’).
When lit, the ear candle generates a gentle heat which, when combined with the therapeutic oils, produces a light suction action. This is known as the chimney principle, and works by drawing impurities gently to the surface, where they can be removed. Most deposits evaporate and are carried away through the candle ‘chimney’, but some are found in the condensed candle wax residue after it is removed from the ear. None of the candle residue actually goes into the ear. To carry out the treatment the client lies down on their side, with their head supported on a pillow so the auditory canal is vertical. The candle is then lit and the non-burning end is placed gently into the outer ear passage and is turned lightly to seal it in place. The candle then generates a pleasant crackling sound and a warm, comfortable feeling. After around 10 minutes the process is repeated on the other ear. This is followed by a a facial massage concentrating on the sinus areas and a scalp massage.
The treatment is a good alternative for people who have found ear syringing uncomfortable.
Many clients find the treatment relaxing. As well as the relieved feeling that comes from reduced pressure in the ears and sinuses, clients may experience a general calming effect.
Hopi ear candles should not be used if there is any inflammation or infection in the ear and are not suitable for people who have had recent ear surgery, or those with ear grommets or tubes, perforated ear drums, or allergies to any of the products in the candle.

PINDASWEDA HOT COMPRESS MASSAGE
is an ancient treatment based on Ayurvedic philosophy using a therapeutic application of heat, herbs and essential oils. Heated cotton bags filled with herbs, spices and aromatic oils are applied to the body with a soft massage, which helps to flush out toxins, soothes inflammations and gives a delightful sensation of relaxation. Pindasweda is a lovely massage to indulge in during winter as it enhances immunity and vitality by increasing blood and lymphatic circulation and encouraging the removal of toxins from the body. This makes it a good massage to choose if you are on a detox diet. It’s also great for exfoliating and softening the skin and really helps to ease aching muscles. Pindasweda is a full body massage and takes an hour.
